Street Style: The very best from London Fashion Week

After days of traipsing around the cobbled pavements of Somerset House, drinking copious amounts of Vitamin Water and oo-ing and ah-ing at fashion both on the catwalk and off, we’d like to introduce you to our favourites.

Head over to our Facebook page to see the entire street style collection. If these girls are anything to go by, next season’s going to be full of oversized clutches (wearing them during the day WILL make you feel glamorous) and bright pops of colour (think neon, tangerine and the Cambridge Satchel Company).

Of course aside from exciting new styles, our favourite old classics are as popular as ever, and it seems the fashionistas couldn’t resist a neutral coloured shade either. Plenty of black totes and caramel hobos were popping up in all the shows, so feel assured, whatever your style, it’ll still be all over the shops next season.

To get the LFW style we’d recommend a Cambridge Satchel Company bag, not only were they huge with all the fashion-addicts and bloggers, but they’re super versatile. We’ve even seen them used as clutches!

Choose Riki Rosetta for effortless and timeless designs

Every woman should have the sort of handbag that comes out when you want to effortlessly show off. London Fashion Week is the perfect example of a time when it’s important to keep up appearances, but looking anything but comfortably elegant is a sin. And that’s where we recommend a jewel from the Riki Rosetta handbag range.

Simple designs that combine vintage details such as kiss clasps and structured frames with modern pops of exotic colour, can easily transform an outfit.

Get ready for summer with Ted Baker

Trends can be unpredictable. They can be daunting, unflattering and sometimes, we just don’t want to go anywhere near them. But what do we do when this happens? When we get ourselves into tiny panics over what we’ll wear for an entire season, because, quite honestly, we hate everything? The BagServant advice this summer, stick to white.

White has been a long-time fashion favourite in the summer months, and not just with designers. We love white because it’s so impecaably easy to wear. It co-ordinates with our wardrobes, it can look sleek and minimalist, or, dressy and elegant.

On the arms of countless celebrities, The Saturdays and Kardashians to name just a handful, it’s so, so easy to get handbag envy. We know we do.

The Hermes Birkin, which would usually set you back well over £3,000, is the ultimate dream handbag for any collector. But when we spotted this darling little catch at only £60, we couldn’t resist. This stone grey tote (also available in beige) by Aftershock  is the ultimate treat, not only because it’s super affordable, but beacuse it’ll give you a taste for the simplestructured padlock design.

A sneak peak into Mulberry’s latest collection

One of our favourite luxury handbag companies have done it again. Serving up a monster themed catwalk show at London Fashion Week, crammed full of vibrant textures - plenty of fur, lace and knits, Mulberry presented a mouth-watering new collection of handbags.

Next season, aside from dark and mysterious shades of navy, brown and grey, will see the launch of the Del Rey bag, inspired by American Singer Lana Del Rey. This ladylike tote is instantly a Mulberry classic, think structured briefcase combined with simple ladylike elegance. Complete with miniature luggage tag and signature lock, the bag oozes all the quintessential British charm we’ve come to expect from the brand.

And what about colour? Yes, tangerine is still very much the shade on everyone’s lips. Bright lashings of it adorned the catwalk among the darker and sultrier winter shades. We loved the tribal revival too, embellished bags, and zig zag prints broke up the chunkier swathes of colour, so expect plenty of beading and thick, textured chain straps on some of your favourite designs.

The prettiest tote bag of them all? The Whistles Francoise of course

We’ve all got fashion wishlists, as in the ‘when I get paid’ list, the ‘when I get a tax rebate’ list, the ‘when I marry a millionaire’ list. They can range from the latest Topshop jeans, if you fancy a quick splurge, to wonderfully exclusive designer handbags we’ve only had the pleasure of glimpsing on our favourite celebs.

Whatever these items may be, we’ve all spent hours of our day planning how we’d style up our wonderfully loved new purchase, how we’d dress it up to show off to our peers, and how we’d happy we’d be knowing it was now a fully fledged member of our wardrobe.

And that’s exactly how we we feel about the Whistles Francoise. It’s like a new best friend, and we’re not just happy with this little beauty in one colour, oh no. We’re not stopping until we’re the owner of pretty little blue, yellow, red, navy and brown Francoises.

Meet the Laptop Handbag (perfect for THAT business lunch)

As strong-minded business women, we struggle to find handbags that will support our hectic lifestyles in quite the same way that Starbucks does.

All that changed for us the day the Business and Laptop Handbag from Aspinal of London arrived in our lives. Available in go-with-everything colours such as vintage brown and deep purple, this little number promises to keep you as organised and stylish as your Filofax. With three separate compartments, and THAT guaranteed laptop slot that so many other handbags ignore, the Business and Laptop handbag is a delight for any woman seeking quality and usability.

Back to the laptop slot, not only are all the compartments quilted, giving you extra security (should you accidentally drop your bag on the floor whilst carrying too many shopping bags, we’ve all been there) but the designated computer space comes with a removable thick padded base, perfect for extra piece of mind.

We love the ladylike look of this bag, with its crocodile finish, and patent shine, so much prettier than all those masculine and clumpy business bags we’ve been forced to endure for years.

Complete the classic look with a silk blouse (go for pastel if you’re tempted by that current trend, we love it) and a super fitted pencil skirt. Towering stilettos will complete the powerful look, whilst a fur trimmed cape would create a quirky, vintage edge.

Check out the entire Aspinal of London collection, it’s the perfect investment buy regardless of age. We love this Elizabeth Hurley pink glitter bag, so over-the-top girlie, it’s perfect for a night on the town with plenty of cocktails.

Why We Love Vanessa Bruno

This dark green bag says it all - Vanessa Bruno is a style genius who knows how to combine everyday life with fashion. Laden with pockets and zips, with enough room for our laptop, make-up bag and Filofax, this little treasure is the answer to all our organisational woes.

Although its sturdy shape and neat metal hardware tell us it’s a power bag ready for corporate action, the casual explorer-style outer pockets say practical and right on trend. You’ve probably seen the slouchy fashion rucksacks lining the shelves of your favourite high street (and designer stores) and we like to think this is the grown-up version of those.

Perfect for busy women and mothers, this tote comes in the sort of goes-with-everything shade that people easily forget about (including us).

Team with a chic cream blouse, dark pair of jeans and a camel coloured coat for a classical daytime look. The wonderfully mysterious green hue will work with almost everything in a classical themed wardrobe - black, camel, white, cream and grey, and even navy on occasion.

We love this bag because it’s a little bit more funky and independent than your usual groomed-to-perfection handbag, and it’s not afraid to show it.

Snap up the Vanessa Bruno Athe Leather Tote for £390.

If we’ve convinced you that green is the colour you should be wearing (because it’s just so mega easy to pull off) take a look at the very gorgeous Diane von Furstenburg Harper coin purse.

Handbag brand of the week? Pure Collection

It’s been a busy morning here at BagServant.co.uk, not least because the winter weather has caused mayhem to the train lines (and our journeys to work), but because we’ve got a new handbag crush that we just can’t wait to tell you about.

We’re always after something classically cool, that works with our wardrobes, dances elegantly from office to bar, and we think we’ve found it.

Our brand of the moment is Pure Collection. You may know them as the lovely people behind gorgeous cashmere knits and slouchy jumpers, but that just may be about to change.

How to style a pastel palette

Wherever you look, this season, ice cream colours will be aplenty. From the hottest runways, to your favourite fashion mags and the most style-savvy celebrities, this is one trend that love it or hate it, you won’t be able to avoid.

This yummy, soft palette takes us back to our childhood, and we’re ready, and willing, to fully embrace it. For optimum trend points, it’s all about colour blocking. Think last season’s eclectic bright flashes of pop colour, just toned down.

If you’re feeling shy, our best advice is to start small and build on it. Choose a pale nail varnish shade, or a cute coin purse to begin with, or, if you’re feeling a little braver, choose an oversized clutch to make a statement, or a tuxedo blazer for a chic Parisian look.

Still feeling flustered? Find out below how BagServant.co.uk would style each scrummy shade.

Lemon Sorbet - This is undoubtedly the easiest to work with if you’ve got a classical wardrobe. Team a crisp white blouse and ankle grazing black trousers with a lemon yellow clutch for effortless power woman. Keep accessories simple for a clean, minimalist approach.
